Durban Poison vs Jack Herer

Jack Herer is a sativa-dominant Sensi Seeds strain that combines a Haze hybrid with a Northern Lights #5 × Shiva Skunk cross; Durban Poison is a pure sativa from South Africa. Leafly lists terpinolene as the dominant terpene of both, and its users report focused and energetic effects for both.1,2 In state lab tests the two land close together: 19.45% median THC for Durban Poison and 19.59% for Jack Herer.3 Both lead with terpinolene in our terpene data.3

The terpinolene pair

Terpinolene leads in only five of the 44 strains in our dataset with at least 10 tests reporting individual terpenes, and these are two of them, with medians of 0.93% for Durban Poison and 0.51% for Jack Herer.3 A 2022 study of US commercial cannabis found about twice as many sativa-labelled products in its high-terpinolene group as in the other groups.6
